Kristin Forbes-Mullane
Owner and founder of Salt of the Earth Tattoo. Born in Phoenix, AZ, living in St. Thomas, USVI, Kristin is a fine art painter and tattoo artist. Kristin began painting in 2000 and since then has shown her work in galleries around the US and been featured in numerous publications. In 2013 she began tattooing and opened Salt of the Earth Tattoo in 2016. Currently painting and tattooing in a 200 year old building in downtown Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas.

Justin Gahn - With over 16 years of professional tattooing experience and 15 years as a studio owner in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, Justin has earned a reputation for bold, clean and timeless tattoo work. Now based in St. Thomas, USVI at Salt of the Earth Tattoo. Justin continues to evolve his craft with a deep passion for American Traditional tattooing, while still creating striking works in color and realism. Justin’s style is grounded in strong linework, thoughtful design and solid execution. While American Traditional remains his personal passion - for its history, clarity and lasting impact - he brings the same level of dedication and precision to every tattoo, whether its a full color piece, bland and grey realism, or something more illustrative. Move than just technical skill, Justin is known for creating a welcoming and professional environment. “You come as a client, but leave as a friend” isn’t just a motto, its the heart of his practice. Originally from Virginia, Matti started her tattooing journey in 2021, though her passion for art began long before that. With a lifelong background in drawing and multimedia sculpture, she brings a creative and detail-oriented approach to everything she creates.
She especially enjoys tattooing ornamental, surrealist designs with dark, whimsical, and mysterious themes; though her style is versatile and she is comfortable working across a range of tattoo styles.
Creating a comfortable and safe environment is also just as important to her as the work itself. She believes that every client should feel confident throughout the process and leave with a piece they’re proud to wear!
